Use additional Gradebook search criteria

Most tasks in the Gradebook begin with a Gradebook search.

Additional search criteria can then be defined when performing a Gradebook search for the following:

Defining additional search criteria during these searches isn't mandatory since there are already default settings that control the data that's displayed.

However, you can further customize the data displayed in your Gradebook search results using the:

  • Filter Results search criteria

  • View Panel search criteria

Filter Results search criteria

Depending on the type of Gradebook search that you're performing (Example — class grades, item statistics, or Grade Reports), you're able to customize some or all of the following Filter Results search criteria:

All students

Type of user group to be included in the search results:

  • All students — Attempts from all students enrolled in your class.

  • Students with grades — Only students enrolled in your class with grades submitted for the applicable activities.

  • Other users with grades — Only users other than students enrolled in your class with grades submitted for the applicable activities (Example — an instructor who has submitted an attempt at the activity).

Results

Best

Type of user results to be included in the search results:

  • Best — Only the highest grade from each user.

  • Average — The average attempt of all the attempts for each user.

  • Most Recent — The newest attempt for each user.

  • Earliest — Only the first attempt for each user.

  • All (Best) — All of the attempts for each user sorted by best to poorest performance.

  • All (Most Recent) — All of the attempts for each user sorted by newest to oldest time stamps.

  • All (Earliest) — All of the attempts for each user sorted by oldest to newest time stamps.

Progress

All (if using a Grade Report search: Student View)

Status of the users' attempts at the activities to be included in the search results:

  • All — All attempt statuses (completed, in progress, and to be reviewed).

  • Completed — Only fully graded attempts.

  • In Progress — Only attempts that are in progress.

  • To Be Reviewed — Only attempts that require manual grading (Example — essay questions).

User

Undefined

Define the name of a specific user to only include their data in the search results.

Date from

Undefined

Click the Date from field to select a date from the drop-down calendar; only results with Start Date on or after the selected date will be included.

Date to

Undefined

Click the Date to field to select a date from the drop-down calendar; only results with Start Date before the selected date will be included.

Numeric

Grade presentation style to be used for the grade results:

  • Numeric (Example — 7.6/9.0)

  • Percentage (Example — 84%)

  • Letter (Example — B+)

User Data

Last Name, Given Name

User-specific information to be displayed in the search results:

  • Class Name — Name of the class used to perform the Gradebook search.

  • MI — User's middle name initial.

  • Login — User's username (login name).

  • Email — User's Möbius email address.

  • Last Name — User's last name.

  • Student ID — User's student identification number.

  • Given Name — User's first name.

  • Custom Fields — Any additional fields that are associated with the user's profile (Example — phone number).

Grade Data

Progress

User attempt-specific information to be displayed in the search results:

  • Start Date — Date when the user's attempt was launched.

  • End Date — Date when the user's attempt was submitted.

  • # Attempts — Total number of attempts by the user.

  • Progress — Status of a user's attempt represented as a progress icon.

  • Start Time— Time when the user's attempt was launched.

  • End Time — Time when the user's attempt was submitted.

  • Duration — Calculation of the total time between the start time and end time of the attempt that is rounded down to the closest minute.

Summary Data

Total Points (if Grade Report search: Mean, Median, Total Points)

Statistical data to be displayed in the search results based on your other defined search criteria:

  • Mean — Average value of all of the displayed grades.

  • Median — Middle value of all of the displayed grades.

  • Total Points — Total number of available points of all of the activities selected in the search.

  • # Students — Total number of users represented by the results.

  • # Attempts — Total number of attempts for all users represented by the results.

  • # Attempts/Student — Calculated average number of attempts per user of the users represented by the results.
